my little monkey

As we all know, weekends and holidays are days to sleep in RIGHT? Well, not in my house. Josh and I tried to sleep in, we tried to ignore all the noises coming from the kitchen. We heard Tommy say "Mom come here, I want to show you something. It will make you want to give me a hug!" What mother can resist that?

To make this a good story you have to understand that Tommy really does a lot to help out around the house. He makes breakfast for himself and anyone who is up, he and Savana make my bed, among other things. Well, this was one of those OTHER THINGS!!! Tommy had noticed that there was a dirty spot on the floor in the living room- well what is the logical thing to do- MOP! So he grabbed the dish soap and squirted it all over the floor then tried to get the swiffer mop and clean up the smudge. When I finally got up and went in there- it was a 5 foot by 6 foot area covered in suds.!! aaaaaagggghhhh!!!
I can't say that he doesn't try. But anyways, it was then my duty to fix it! So I cleaned up, swept and then set out to mop the right way. My german grandma, Maria, always taught us to mop with a towel, hot soapy water, and to get on your hands and knees and scrub! As I was doing this, Timothy seized the opportunity for a horsey ride. He kept jumping on my back and riding while I was mopping. I think Josh just couldn't resist taking the picture.

How grateful I am for my little helpers!!

Happy Mother's Day!!

This year for Mother's Day, to be honest, I wasn't too excited. Josh is at work and frankly the kids just don't have a clue-- or so I thought. First I want to thank their teachers for helping them remember this day. Then I want to thank my children for being so wonderful to me.

Savana made me a beautifully, hand crafted, self-colored card, that said "I love you mom," with a beautiful picture flower.
Siera had a mom and me day at her pre-school. When I got there she handed me a card, inside has her hand print as a flower, and a little tube of lotion. Then she sang "I love you" (to the tune of Barney) and got me a fudgcicle. Chocolate always works.
Tomas, I think he takes the cake this year. I came home from Siera's school and he was waiting outside for me. He ran up to the car and handed me my gift. Then he said "I know you already have one, so can I have it?" I just laughed. It was a beautiful PINK jewelry box!!! With a lovely card that reads "Dear mother, I wanted to wish you a Happy Mother's Day, you are the best cooker." Thats great isn't it!!

And Timothy learned to say Happy Mother's Day, which in and of itself is special. So last week I was given these wonderful gifts- but come sunday I wasn't expecting much. AGain I was surprised. Tommy and Timbo had woken up early and came upstairs to make everyone breakfast. EVEN ME!!! I got up and he had poured me a bowl of marshmallow mateys-- I am the luckiest mother alive, and to top it off Tommy and Savana made my bed. At Church I got a break from teaching and then got a mother's day muffin- chocolate of course-- and of course I learned a lesson from my children that day-- It's nice to share!! So we all shared my muffin.
It was a great mother's day. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful children. I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for trusting me with such precious spirits. I am so glad I am a mother.
I am also grateful to all mother's out there, who love and teach their children to live righteously, to be good, honest, and hardworking people-- in short those who pass on wisdom to have their children make the world a better place.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Soccer and other things...

Well soccer season is coming to a close and I realized I haven't taken pictures. Hello!!! So last Saturday I brought the camera hoping to get some great shots. Take this one below- the kid kicking- thats Tommy!!

and here he is kicking again. He really has a good leg. When he was goalie he did a goal kick up over everyone's heads and almost to the goal on the other side. It was pretty cool.

And finally a goal!!!!! He kicks- He SCORES!

So here are some cute pictures of us riding horses on Mother's Day. They were following Papa around like little puppies. And yes, all the kids rode the horses, even Dayle and I rode the horses (yes I am sore) but we had fun. But the cutest was Timbo riding by himself. His hands crossed so gentlemanly around the saddle horn. It was great.
