Curly Sue- I mean Savana (and Siera)

A little while ago my friend gave me some curlers. You know the kind that you don't have to heat up, you can wear them to bed, they are soft and have a giraffe print to them. Well, my Savana who has the straightest hair you could ever imagine, wanted to curl her hair. And so we did. It took me a few minutes to get them all in her hair. Siera is the shadow of Savana and has to mimick her every desire, so we took a few seconds to put curlers in Siera's hair. And we had to take pictures quickly because Siera's fell out within a minute I think. I love having girls. They are so much fun to dress up like dolls!!! (When they let me)

MY BEAUTIFUL GIRLS!!!

Dad's first post...what I wouldn't do to drive Heidi crazy!

As I am sure everyone knows, I am a little bit of a hunter. A while ago I read a story that a guy wrote on my favorite website about taking his 7 and 4 year old children coyote hunting and letting them do the calling. It was a great story and he had a great experience with the kids. Then I saw a post from a custom call maker on the same site of some coyote calls he made for another hunter to give to his daughter; the calls were made out of a pink and white plastic and had a pink nylon lanyard.

Lightning struck my brain at that point, and I got into contact with the call maker...here is the result.
I decided Timbo could wait for his own calls for a little while. The black and blue is for Tomas, pink and green for Savana, and purple and white for Siera. The bigger call in each set is a jack rabbit in distress call, is REALLY loud and, when Tommy gets into it, it's really raspy (in fact this call maker is so good, I am jealous of these little calls). The smaller call is a Squeaker, meant to immitate a small animal, like a mouse, and is the favorite of the girls. It is also just a little bit more annoying.
Here are the kids making some sweet music, and their overjoyed mommy!!!

We did it!!!!

This is our final graduation this year. Savana Star Dickhaut graduated from ABC Express Pre-school on May 27, 2008. She participated in a wonderful program that demonstrated all the skills she learned throughout the year. She knows her letters, numbers, colors, shapes, rhyming, syllables, letter sounds, vowels, cutting, glueing, writing her name among other things, and making friends. We are so proud of her and all her accomplishments this year. She is excited for the summer, and ready to go to Kindergarten. Congratulations Savana!!!!

Savana doing her thing. Here she is with her best friend, Halle. They love to play princess, and mom and dad. That's the great thing about school- making new friends. Below, she is with her pre-school teacher, Mrs. Jen. (Halle is ACTUALLY Mrs. Jen's niece, but because these two are best friends and together a lot, Savana would call her Aunt Jen, just like Halle).

We have arrived...

at the finish line for Kindergarten. On May 21, 2008 my son Tomas graduated from his Kindergarten class. It wasn't anything big. The class came out with their caps on, (Tommy's was taped to his head) and sang a few songs, then they presented a slide show of the classes and the parties they had through the year, then the "graduate" was presented with a scrapbook of their work through the year. It was really neat. I am so proud of my little boy. He's moving on up to the first grade. What mom could be prouder?

By the way, they still have a few days left of school- a few more play days. Ah, school- our tax dollars at work!!!!

Global Warming?

This is what we do on the first of May, How about you?

There's snowball fights, and making snowmen, and having a blast.

What a day we had! Hope you all had a great first day of SPRING!!!

NBC announces new weather woman

It's been announced that Savana is the new weather person!!! Just kidding. Her pre-school class took a field trip to the news studio and got to play with the green screen. It was a really neat field trip. These kids get to do the funnest things. What are they being taught????

Make up your mind already...

So, just a quick update. Things around here are as crazy as ever. But what makes things horrific is the weather. I don't know about all of you- but here it won't make up its mind. One day will be nice, sunny, warm and the next day (or hour sometimes) it's snowing, blowing and cold. As a result I got sick. We all know what happens when mom gets sick- NOTHING gets done. Luckily, Josh was home for a few days and helped out quite a bit. But the kids, suprisingly are helping too.

As for other news- We have started a chore chart. Just simple every day type things that if they get done before dinner they get a sticker. The kids really like that. I'm totally impressed that Tommy does his without being reminded (most of the time), as for the girls, they need a little prompting. And Timothy- if he makes it through the day without screaming, or beating up Siera, he gets the sticker too. It's been nice having organization and cleanliness at the hands of the children, not just me. I also started a DISH WHEEL-- I think my biggest complainer is Josh- but he still participates. I'm so proud of him-- he would like stickers too though!!!

All else is crazy and well. The kids are almost done with school, just 4 weeks. I can hardly believe that summer is almost here (maybe it would be more believable if the weather would act right). But I will post pics of graduations as soon as I get them.
One more piece of news- I got an additional calling---- CAMP DIRECTOR!!!! I couldn't be more excited. Girls camp is one of my favorite places in the world.

Sorry no pictures this time- I'm trying to get better and then get back to my old picture taking self.
