Summer Adventures

We had such a FUN summer. We were busy, busy, busy- going back and forth to Idaho and visiting other neat places.

DINOSAUR NATIONAL PARK
This is just a few hours from the house and it was a perfect day trip. We took lots of yummy snacks and water and we sure needed it- it was HOT!! We got to see all kinds fossils on our guided tour. Tommy especially loves this stuff, but all the kids were excited about it. We also got to climb to the top of a mountain to see some awesome Petroglyphs.

FREEMAN LAKE
One of our favorite things to do is go out in nature and just have fun. Hike, fish, camp- you name it we like it. A few friends of ours invited us to go fishing. They brought their canoes and oh boy- now we are hooked. The girls didn't fish but they sure liked being out in the boat. Tommy got so good he got to take the canoe out by himself. It was so beautiful out there- it's a shame we didn't make it there more often.

WHITTLE THE WOOD
Every year there is a wood carving competition held. Artists come from all over. For a whole week there are all kinds of events surrounding the competition. There is music and games and all kinds of fun. Each artist get a log and can make it into anything they want. Here are just a few examples.

This is a one hour competition. Each carver is given a small log and one hour- then the completed totems are auctioned off. This bear went for $400

Sandrock Elementary...

We love Sandrock Elementary. The kids fit right in as soon as we moved here. All the teachers just loved them and they excelled in their classes. They even got to go on some fun field trips and participate in cool things.

Timothy's Field trips- The High School put on a 4H fair. The 4H kids brought their animals and things from home to show off to the Kindergarners. Timbo was in heaven. He got to pet a horse, a cow, pigs, sheep, goats, but not the chickens, and he especially loved the sheep dog puppies. They were so cute. I think his favorite part was riding the bus- his first time!! (Heck it was my first time riding a bus since I was in elementary school)

Field trip #2- SAFETY DAY
At the end of the school year the city put on a safety fair. The cops and firefighters were there, the parks and rec people were there and even the lifeguards. They were all there to talk about how to stay safe in the summer. Smokey the Bear was for sure the biggest hit!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK:
As part of the PAC, I got to help decorate doors for teacher appreciation. I volunteered to do the doors for my kids teachers- this is how they turned out. It was really a lot of fun, and now I even have better ideas for next year:)

More field trips- Savana got to go on AN OVERNIGHTER!!! All of the 4th grade in the district headed to Denver to stay the night in the Natural History Museum. They got to learn all kinds of things- even dissecting a cow's eyeball- YUCK!! She loved every minute though. The next day they got to go to the Denver Zoo. She was so tired when she got home she slept for 2 days!!

FIELD DAY
The end of the year always brings a field day- a party day if you will! Well, it was just tons of fun and thankfully it wasn't snowing!

My little Siera bug- in her amazing, awesomeness was nominated to be a citizen of the month!! She certainly earned it. (Tommy and Timothy got to be "go getter's"- that's a recognition for being good too)

GRADUATIONS:
Kindergarten graduation. I still can't believe he is all grown up! He's my baby. I was a little sad that there wasn't a big production from this graduation, but that's ok. Timothy was so cute and sand his songs and grabbed his diploma then he was ready for cookies and a party. I guess that is all that matters!

DARE graduation-  I can't believe Tommy has officially graduated from DARE- and also the 5th grade. What could that possibly mean? MIDDLE SCHOOL is next!! I am still reeling from this information. Tommy is handling it all so well. I sure am proud of him.

After school got out Siera decided she wanted to try out Volleyball. There was a little 3 day camp we put her in and she really seemed to have a good time. Who knows- maybe she'll play when she gets older!

Just a few updates...

I have been pretty far behind in this whole blogging thing lately. I accept full responsibility and am ready to play catch up!

March 2013- I love to get my camera out and just practice taking pictures of the kids. I was probably a little too early in the day to make the moon stand out more but it was fun to practice having Timothy "hold the moon".

April 2013:  EASTER
We always have so much fun at Easter time. It wasn't the same as being at Grammy's house, but we had fun still. I tell you what, there is nothing like hunting for eggs in the snow!! It was really cold, but the kiddos had a blast!

Family Reunion...

The Fourth of July is not only a time to celebrate the independence of our country- it is a time to spend with family! We got to head back to Idaho for a couple family reunions- one for Josh's immediate family and one for Dayle's family. Thankfully my awesome friend, Mohna, came and took our pictures. This is ALWAYS an ordeal but at least we had fun and got some great pictures!

My amazing parents

I have to say that I have the greatest parents in the world- I might be a little biased, but oh well it's my blog and I'll say what I want :)
My family and I were so blessed to have my parents come and stay for a whole week and do nothing but play. We went to movies, swam (got sunburned), watched soccer and gymnastics, shot off rockets and just had a great time. I love being able to spend that quality time with them since it doesn't happen as often as we would like. I also got to capture their fun loving side to show the world.
For the record- yes my parents wear glasses (they are old and they need to see)
No these glasses are not prescription- they are for fun!
