Piano Recital

Savana has been taking piano lessons for about 9 months now and she is really very naturally gifted with it. She takes from a gal in our ward that just raves about her. Well, she finally put together a piano recital and it was so much fun. Savana practiced for about a month to make sure she would have her songs perfect- AND THEY WERE!! I am so proud of her.

Practice makes perfect

I am always taking pictures of my family and my kids especially- but I have neglected to take a picture of two very important members of our family. Rocky, our black lab, is 4 years old and is such a fun dog. He LOVES to play ball, swim and go hunting with Josh. He is super sweet and just wants to be around us all the time. When the kids are in the back yard he whines to just be where they are. He is pretty dirty in these pictures, just because it's been warm and he likes to roll in the dirt to keep cool. But he is such a pretty dog, with such a funny personality!

This is our Zoey. She is the queen of the household. She is the boss. She loves to sleep on pillows, blankets, jackets, even backpacks- anything but the floor! She is our 9 year old Beagle and she has been in our family for 8 years. She is so much fun to play with, and the girls especially love to walk her around and dress her up!

I am taking a photography course and am learning all kinds of new things and so I will be sharing some practice pictures. This is my first attempt at a motion picture. I was messing with panning, and shutter speeds. I both froze the picture mid-action and moved my camera to imply action. Timothy is such a great sport to help me out! Of course it doesn't hurt him to just play on the swing!

Surprise visit

We had such a fun visit with the Dickhaut family. It happened to be Nana's 80th birthday so my F-I-L's siblings came up for a surprise party. And oh what fun we had!! Mark and Julie, Peter and Theresa along with all of our families got together, ate tons of food, and played so many fun games in the yard. Thank goodness it was nice outside! As a gift I got to take an original family picture of Nana and her kids- then with spouses.

Here are some of the games we played. We did crab races, wheel barrow races, running races, the bunny hop and three-legged races. I know the kids kept playing long after the adults went in, they wore us out- but totally worth it!

Pinewood Derby 2012

I know I'm late posting this, and there are no excuses. Nevertheless, here is Tommy's FINAL pinewood derby. It sure seems like these last 3 years went quick. Tommy's car is the one on the end- the burnt one!! He actually took "MOST ORIGINAL DESIGN'' for that one! This year he competed as a WEBLOS and he took 2nd place in his pack and 5th overall. So, even though his car wasn't the fastest, he did a really great job. I think he was more upset that he won't be able to participate again, rather than not winning- but I'm sure we'll still find a way to make these fun cars. In fact, Tommy has designed his own derby track so he can race his cars at home.

I love how seriously he took making sure everything was just right. He is a perfectionist- I'm not sure where he gets that from!!
